Our self - image is important so work towards building a good one and you will be able to build whatever you do professionally in life bigger, better, and faster. When we can accept ourselves, with our own faults and shortcomings, it's much easier for us to understand and communicate with other people. I've learned throughout my journey to listen closely and don't be so quick to judge others without seeking understanding.

I'm here to tell you that regardless where you are in your life professionally, and regardless of what your self- image might be at this moment, I believe there’s someone and including myself in this world that have walked in your shoes and felt your feelings. I believe we're all trying to reach a certain destination in our lives and I believe we've all experienced days of frustration, uncertainty, fear, discouragement, financially strapped, or had more doubts about what tomorrow will bring. But I will leave you with this one; there is hope for you and me. Yes, we can actually help ourselves!

1. Set Goals- Know what you want to be, to do and to have in life.

2. Take some type of action every day. Make the necessary adjustments and improvements to achieve your goals.

3. Create a game plan for reaching your goals. List each step to follow to reach your goal.

4. Believe that you can and you will achieve your goals.

5. Remember to remain a positive attitude at all times, regardless of the obstacles you may encounter.

6. Act with confidence, have faith and be persistent and determined. Use positive affirmations, and visualize yourself of accomplishing your goals, and use audio to keep you motivated and to program your mind.

7. Focus, focus and focus your thoughts and energy on the things you want to achieve.

8. Keep on learning to continue growing.

9. When circumstances change which is very likely, be flexible and change to new approaches to adjust to those new conditions.

Trust me; you're on your way to making things happen!!

Its hope, like nothing else in the world, inspires us and motivates us to keep going. The strength of hope lies in what it hopes in--- how strong it is depends on what it is connected to. So hold on and don't give up the very thing that you're hoping for to come your way!

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.

Harriet Beecher Stowe

Even though you have yet to see it or receive the thing you're hoping for and long to see, it isn't over just yet! Even though you can't see how things can be fixed, or turned around, or how any good could possibly come from the situation you are in, it may well turn out to be the very best thing of all. Hope is not just looking for it with your eyes; we must look for it with our hearts and have a little faith.

Continue to awaken to the very things you hope for and keep your passion alive.

The greatest of all MISTAKES is to do nothing because you think you can do only a little. In giving, we get the opportunity to sample the "gift of giving fragrance" that makes us feel really good about ourselves. We feel better about us and help others around us to feel better. In making a difference in our community and the world, everyone is more powerful and more OK when we commit and act.

I am forming a "Giving from My Heart” Team, and I wonder if you would agree to serve and support me in my efforts to help others.” In return, I promise that you will experience undeniable JOY and your commitment will make a difference and have a major impact in the lives of many that are in dire need of our help. I want, need and choose you. Will you give me the opportunity to work with you? As a team, we can become a world of positive change in action as we light up the life of everyone we touch.

I would like each individual to commit to spending only $10.00 on non-perishable food items, toiletries, sheets, blankets, toys, school supplies etc. to give to a needy cause. If you’re not able to purchase items, you can donate items from home as long as they’re clean and in good condition. I'm not asking you to send me the money, I want you to personally go out and make the purchase yourself and lavish in that feeling that comes from purchasing and giving to someone that's in dire need. I want you to know exactly where your donation is going and the impact it's going to have on someone’s life. If you're located in a different city and state you can still participate on February 15, 2014 by finding a shelter near you or you can send the items to the address listed below for this project and I will provide you with a receipt for tax purposes. Please take a photo of yourself and of your purchases or items from home to display on the website and for other social media networking sites to show our adopted day of spreading love over the entire universe, or you can remain anonymous if you desire.

Our goals at “Rise Up 4 Change” are to unite businesses and communities together throughout the world to invest in our youth, younger adults and charity organizations. It is possible to do a lot with a little, and it’s possible to evoke positive change when the world stands as one. I need your help in working with me to make this a success. I believe all it takes is one person's effort to help someone else, and we can create a world of change.

I plan to make an investment but it’s not going to be in material things. The investment is going to be in me. No longer do I desire to invest in things and not in myself. Instead of investing in things that bring temporary fulfillment, I’m going to commit to investing in me. You can let your fears keep you from growing, or you can let your fears inspire you to grow.

I’ve decided it’s time for a change to better my physical and mental wellbeing and the time is now. I’m not going to just talk about change; I’m going to be about change. We can spend this moment, next week, month, or year talking about the changes we’re going to make, but talk is cheap without action and results. It’s time to show yourself some love. Value the person staring back at you in the mirror and take care of you.

Today is the day of personal commitment to love yourself some you and stop giving your time and energy away to things and people that will never truly see your worth. All Rise!

Desire it, chase it, and want it bad enough to know that peace is yours to have. Today, I am happy and content, although I still work towards changing the things I can and I have learned to accept the things I cannot. My life journey and constant search for answers has taught me that inner peace is not something we achieve in life and then remain feeling that way forever. Peace comes in moments throughout our lives. It is my deepest hope that whatever might be keeping you from feeling inner peace and contentment, you will find a solution and inspiration to move forward in your own journey towards healing.

Some moments come along and your world—your life—changes. Something shifts inside and everything’s the same yet somehow different. I believe there are angels in the world today. Sometimes someone comes into your life and helps you to breathe for the first time, see things in a different light, think with clarity and give your life meaning with truth, joy and sparks of love. Often times, we never see it coming. But it also happens when we need it the most in our lives. Today, I challenge you to PRESS on and continue moving forward and working towards finding your peace. It is important that you press persistently. Make a self-commitment to never give up and that you will keep going no matter what comes your way.

Peace and Success will be yours when you decide to take action against the problems, trials and tribulations that come your way.

Reaching out and helping others is what makes us stronger. The power of giving and service can change the world--one child, adult, family and community at a time. "The measure of a life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation.” I did something different this year on "Christmas Eve" and it turned out to be the best Christmas ever. I went out and purchase a few toys, toiletries, food items, Bibles, and added clothing and shoes from home and my family and went to a homeless shelter to lift up and brighten their Christmas. I can't truly express in mere words the heartfelt joy that I received on this day with the countless warm hugs and embrace. It's truly about what we can give to others and the world that gives us the greatest joy; it's something that money can't buy when you give from the heart. It's a prime example of what "Rise Up4 Change" is all about for me and it deals with the heart, mind, and soul.

I believe we all have the potential to do something great. We may not be able to change the world with our hard work and efforts, but we can work towards changing ourselves and those around us. My heart desire is to leave a legacy of caring about others with my heart and reminding them that their life matters. I firmly believe if we all pitched in and devoted ourselves to helping out in our community, we can create a world of making others better and one where there's no one left behind or forgotten.

My plans are to start a drive this coming February 2014 called "My Giving Heart" I'm looking for a team to join me in giving to the homeless, abused, orphanage or we can take a vote on the needs of an organization. I would like each individual to commit to spending only $10.00 on food items, toiletries, toys, school supplies etc. to give to a needy cause. I'm not asking you to send me the money, I want you to personally go out and make the purchase yourself and lavish in that feeling that comes from purchasing and giving to someone that's in dire need. I want you to know exactly where your donation is going and the impact it's going to have on someone’s life. If you're located in a different city and state you can still participate by sending the items to the address listed for this project. Please take a photo of yourself and of your purchases to be added to the website. I believe all it takes is one person's effort to help someone else, and we can create a world of change.

Please continue to check back as I continue to post and add more information as the time nears for "My Giving Heart." If you are interested in making a commitment with me, please sign up with your contact information at coach@angelamthomas.com and I will add your name to the list. Your contact information will not be shared with anyone other than me, so we can communicate and I will keep you informed. Also, you will receive a donation receipt with your items listed for tax purposes. Remember, there is so much power in helping others. Help me to mark this day for you can never know just how much your help means until you see the effect that it has on others.

Lets get the New Year started right! Get on board with the "My Giving Heart" movement.

For Christmas is a time to celebrate faith and family. Love your friends and family with your entire being, for they are the most important part of your life. Count your blessings and remember to practice being patient and gentle as you live in these moments.

The holiday season is upon us. It is often a time of uplifted spirits, good times, and closeness to those people who are most important to us. The holiday season can bring with it stress that is not found during other times of the year. The financial pressures of shopping and affording gifts are common to just about all of us. Set a budget for yourself and remember you give from the heart SOMETHING THAT CAN'T BE BOUGHT and not so much from your pocket. Give to those you love; your time, a listening ear, a heart-to-heart conversation, and a warm loving embrace.

The holidays can be impactful for a variety of reasons, and it's sometimes up to us to make it the best time of the year that it can be. Please remember to reach out and help those less fortunate than you and those that are enduring hardships during this time, those that have lost a loved one, homeless, children that are living in the orphanage, single and without children, and those that have family who are simply apart from them in different parts of the world. Once again the time is here to "deck the halls" in joyful celebration, by shedding love and light on others.

Make this Holiday season one of Celebration and Joy as you reflect and remember who you are and just how blessed you are to be alive and have a loving and supportive family, good friends and colleagues. Be good to yourself, be good to and for each other, and enjoy the time and blessings that we've received during the year AND NOT JUST ON THIS DAY. Have a Very Merry Christmas!

You can change anything and everything. You are always one decision away from change, hope, from happiness, from love, from health, from growth and success. Make today the last day you allow fear to prevent you from becoming the person you desire to be and achieving optimum success. It’s time we accept responsibility for our life choices without blame for anyone or anything.

Make a decision to begin. Stop giving time to things and people that lead you nowhere. Make daily efforts to do things that will make a better future for you and those you love. Stand for nothing but a future you insist, regardless of fears and doubt. Making a decision, any decision, (taking action) is the only path that leads to future consequence (RESULTS).

Always expand your sights. Keep your mind focused on how you WILL succeed. Success IS a learned behavior. Anyone with the time and the desire can learn to win. You have to go after life and live it as if it owes you every minute. We all have a purpose, a reason for being here, our role in the greater plan. Make a commitment to remove the limits that you have placed on yourself and look ahead with optimism and conviction to achieve the impossible.

1. Make the leap (Kick fear to the curve.)

2. Don’t let your dreams slip away (Become clear on what it is you want out of life.)

3. Live out your potential (Get into gear and give it your all.)

4. Go into action (Start chasing your dream today. The clock is ticking.)

5. Mistakes are teachers, not failure. (Don’t allow the fear of failure to outweigh your desire to succeed.)

6. Choose and create your own destiny (Listen to your heart and have a passion for what you do.)

It’s time for you to take life on and squeeze every second, minute and hour out of it! Tomorrow is not promised, and you can’t be afraid to make mistakes in fear of failing. Winners want to see other people succeed and win.

Faith is our foundation and sustaining strength in the storms of life. Have you ever felt hopeless...contemplating and ready to throw in the towel and give up? Are you feeling as though you are stuck and trapped in your current situation? Are you ready for this one? According to the Word of God, Hopeless comes from being without God in the world. It comes from being stranger to His covenant (Ephesians 2:12). You don't have to remain stuck and filled with hopelessness.

Remember the promises of God because He isn't limited by man's resources. God is an equal opportunity employer! God will honor even a little faith. If we want God's sustaining power in our lives during difficult times, we need to learn to flex our faith muscles. It's not the size but the object of our faith that matters. Mountain-moving faith is in the power of God. Muscles-seed faith doesn't see the obstacles, road blocks, mountains, set-backs, distractions; it focuses on our God, who is greater than any obstacles or hill we have to climb.

Yes, we can acknowledge that a problem exists, or we're stuck in a rut, but looking at life through the eyes of faith, the problem is never so big that God is not bigger still. Because He said it in His Words, we can earnestly expect it! If you don't yet have a covenant with the Almighty God, get one and you can be filled with unshakeable, undeniable hope. If you’re in need of answers, or seeking relief and freedom, ask God into your heart. Don't sit back and allow the devil to keep you filled with doubt or lack of strength and hope, take authority over the devil and cast hopelessness far far away from you. Declare today that you're standing on God's Word, no matter what it looks like on the outside and feels like at this presence moment. Let hope Rise Up within you. For with God all things are possible to him that believes!

I am a believer. All things are possible to me!

Help fight back, get involved and make a difference in the fight against cancer. Wear a pink breast cancer ribbon during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October to honor survivors and raise breast cancer awareness. More than half of all cancer deaths could be prevented by making healthy choices like not smoking, staying at a healthy weight, eating right, keeping active, and getting recommended screening tests. Breast cancer occurs mainly in women, but men can get it, too. Many people do not realize that men have breast tissue and that they can develop breast cancer.

Screening increases the chances of detecting certain cancers early, when they are most likely to be curable. Learn what screening tests the American Cancer Society recommends, when you should have them, and how they are covered under some types of insurance.

Being aware of how your breasts normally look and feel is an important part of keeping up with your breast health. Finding breast cancer as early as possible gives you a better chance of successful treatment.

Although there's no sure-fire way to prevent breast cancer, certain lifestyle habits are linked to a lower risk of it developing or returning.

◾ Be physically active. Evidence is growing that regular physical activity helps reduce your breast cancer risk. It also helps keep your weight under control, which may also lower your risk.

◾ Eat a healthy diet. Studies link a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, poultry, fish, and low-fat dairy products to a reduced breast cancer risk. A healthy diet also helps you stay at a healthy weight.

◾ If you drink alcohol, limit how much you drink. Research has shown that women who have 2 or more alcoholic drinks daily have a higher risk of breast cancer than women who drink only 1 drink a day or not at all.

The support of family and friends is critical in the fight against cancer.

Sometimes, it speaks without uttering a single word.

It can be felt deep within without a single touch.

Its expression doesn't require an introduction, when it's applied the right way.

It's invisible to the naked eye but stirred up within the inner being and translated in different languages.

It's priceless and costly at the same time, but gives life to the living dead.

It quenches a thirst and satisfies a hungry soul.

It's requires a selfless sacrifice with intent to do well and not harm that will leave a lasting impression on one's soul.

It's a journey traveled by many, a deed that can't be measured but a mark often missed.

The returns are intangible, rewarding, and healing for the human soul.

It feeds, delivers, soothes, fulfills but sometimes cause aches and discomfort.

It grows and branches out. It ripens and strengthens. It falls and if not properly nourished it can and sometimes withers away and dies.

It gives and breathes life into a seed and creates growth among human understanding.

It's an indescribable miracle all in itself and one to treasure and behold.

To live is to experience and come to know the language of love.

It's easier to thank God for the good times, but it's much more important to thank Him for the difficult times. Difficult situations, ones that is so hard to bear such as the loss of a dear friend (Chief Marcus Smith) has been extremely painful. But I know that God will give me strength to soar, for it is through our wounds that we grow. Hard times and deep wounds remind us of our humanity, our humility, and our utter dependence upon God.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 147:3, 11 NLT). In my own seasons of heartache and pain, it has been my interactions with God that have accelerated more healing than anything else. It came through reading His Word and taking time to listen to what God said to me as we fellowshipped together. It came as He realigned my feelings with my faith.

God knows our frailties and how cruel this world can be. Innocent lives are sadly taken each and every day. When we are hurting and suffering due to losing a loved one, we find ourselves asking questions that would be unthinkable during happier times in our lives.

1. Where is God?

2. Why did this happen?

3. Can anything good possibly come out of something so bad?

Our emotional confusion due to our inner pain can distort our spiritual perception. But we must give ourselves time to process the pain, and be opened and position ourselves to receive from God what we need to restore our bearings. Rather than allowing our emotions to take over and rule, we must commune with Him in our pain as He sustains and heals our broken heart. God's answer to our pain is always, "Come to Me My Child." He is the Wonderful Father, Counselor and Healer, for when you need a place to fall, falls into His loving arms. He's the Prince of Peace.

In Loving Memory Chief Marcus Smith, you will always be in my heart. What's in the heart stays in the heart.

Talk about plummeting! Boy, did I ever feel so weak and out of control—nothing like a mother, woman and leader is supposed to feel—and talk about frightening as I began to feel as though I was losing grip and focus—it happened during the time I was given a vision and assignment filled with exciting, new possibilities.

I became extremely upset and disappointed in myself for slipping and treading on a path filled with empty promises. I awaken to living my life how others wanted it to be and all the while being unhappy because I was worried about everyone else’s happiness and their approval as well. I had to learn the hard way that some folks will take and take without any consideration for your well-being. I am sure there are many who travel through life being a people-pleaser without realizing it.

Some of us get so caught up in the world and all it has to offer, that we lose our focus in life and the real reason why we are put here. We become so occupied and busy and we sometimes, convince ourselves that we are doing a service for the Lord. We literally abandon our families, our home responsibilities, and our health and forget to enjoy our lives in the process. We take for granted the blessings before us and deep within we neglect getting rid of the things that’s not helping us. Sounds familiar? It’s time to Wake up, and live life with your eyes wide opened. Stop making excuses, let some things/ people go and get back on track to living a life filled with purpose.

I’m not saying it’s going to be a walk in the park and each and every day is going to be a bright sunny day filled with joy and happiness. Believe me, when I tell you that you will be tested and confronted with challenges and obstacles that you must endure and overcome along the way. Your faith will be tested, but I honestly believe through the struggle you will gain wisdom and strength you probably never knew existed within you. Instead of leaping to reach your destination, take small steps and one day at a time. Don’t wait until you’re in too deep and far too gone off your path, before getting a grip on things and taking charge. There are still greater things in store for you! So many people live for praise of their co-workers, college buddies and peers. Wake Up, it’s certainly not about that!

Have you stumbled into overwhelming, out of order circumstances? Have you lost your focus on the more important things in life? Take a minute to reflect and pray for guidance. Awaken to the blessings and people God has placed in your life and stop taking them for granted. Stop trying to fit in and receive recognition from people and things that will eventually leave you empty, frustrated, overwhelmed, mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted without any joy and peace. These things will never quench your thirst and provide you with fulfillment, peace, love, joy and happiness. If seeking God’s blessing is your ultimate act of worship, and asking to do more for Him is your utmost ambition, those asking for God’s hand upon us in our strategic choice to sustain and continue the great things that God has begun in our lives. It’s time to remove the blind folders and running away from the one thing you desperately need to be running too.

Just because you are walking, and breathing, doesn’t truly mean you are living. You can be dead walking and only existing and headed for a life of self-destruction. So I ask, where are you headed in life? Are you willing and prepared to remove the toxins out of your life and live a life that is wholesome and filled with purpose? Wake Up, I did. So walk in Faith and believe and trust that God has your best interest and His plans are far greater than you could ever imagine.

One day you awaken finally knowing what you have to do, although the voices in your head keep shouting give it one more try. It’s time to “Mend my life!” I can’t do it by holding on to the things that constantly pull me back into the flames of heart burns, so I must let this go. Apart of me doesn’t want to stop and let go of this thing that attached itself to my inner walls causing me to tremble inside with a temporary satisfaction. “Mend my life!” the voice cries for freedom from the very thing that can destroy the essence of me.

I know what I have to do, though the very thought of walking away will leave me hollow inside. The foundation has sustained cracks, but little by little the more I pull away the burning sensation has caused me to focus and I can now hear the new voice which I have come to recognize as my own, that gives me strength as I strode deeper and deeper into being true to myself, for I am determined to do the only thing I could do—determined to save the only life I could save and that’s my own.

Sometimes the trials of this life could be so hard to take, but through it all I keep the faith. So now that I have revisited and reviewed my life, I’ll remember that I owe it to myself to know that I deserve so much better than temporary satisfaction. I will remind myself each and every day to stay focused and determined. I won’t dare give in, but I surrender to the One that loves me like no other as I throw back my head, look straight into the cloud’s eyes and cry out: “Lord, I love you!” And the echo of a voice softer than a violin whispers: “I love you too and I will mend your life!”

Hold on! Don’t give up yet! I want to give you renewed hope that your heavenly Father will not just up and leave you stranded and alone to fight your battles. Just know that God will meet you right in the midst of your battlefront and provide you with a lasting peace. Just know that our Lord is the God of the impossible.

I am certain that He is able to bring peace and wholeness to a broken soul. Just keep in mind that God only requires that we do what we are capable of doing. He never asks us to do the impossible—that’s His job. Jesus does not want us to try to handle our problems alone. We are simply to cast all our cares upon Him. (1 Peter 5:7). Our cares include our injured past, mistakes made along the way, our insecurities, and all our weaknesses.

Some things take time, love, and a lot of prayer, but restoration and victorious recovery finds its way home. With love and God, there are no impossibilities, and He will always come to your rescue and provide you a way of escape. Although, it may appear that you are trapped, but the exit door is within the safety of His loving, outstretched arms just waiting for you to go to Him.

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ask yourself, "What kind of life do I want to lead?" What would you like your life to be like ten years from now?

When you don't plan a direction in life, you make a choice--that of no choice. You must develop goals in life. Without them, you lack a sense of purpose in life. If you set a goal, as you approach it, you gain greater motivation to succeed. Achievement of goals strengthens your desire to achieve other goals. As a result, you attain a feeling of movement through life and a higher sense of self-worth.

An effective goal focuses primarily on results rather than activity. It identifies where you want to be, and in the process, helps you determine where you are. It gives you important information on how to get there, and it tells you when you have arrived. It unifies your efforts and energy. It gives meaning and purpose to all you do.

HERE'S THE KEY QUESTION? How bad do you want it? Are you willing to make sacrifices, and work your butt off to accomplish your goals? If so, you have to be willing to put in the time, energy, passion, and you've got to give your all to get something back. Just remember in every endeavor, there's going to be at least one moment--and sometimes several--when you clinch and say, "I can't do this. That's the gut check moment and the ultimate test of how much you want it, how much you believe in it, and how much you're willing to put up with to achieve your success. Allow your strength to come from within. It's deciding you will be the person you want to be in life. You can do it. Keep going and never give up!

Here is a simple plan in setting goals.

1. Plan. Make a list of your goals. Put them on paper.

2. Decide when you want to reach the goal.

3. Do something every day toward accomplishing your goals!

4. At least once a month, check your goals to see where you are.

Goals are the guiding lights that remind us of our hopes, dreams, and aspirations we desire. If your goals are not specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely, your goals will not have the meaning necessary for them to become a reality.

“If you do not design your own life plan, chances are you will fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they planned for you? Not much.”

Jim Rohn
